ABOUT ME

My name is Ranu Bhullar. I have had a very rewarding career for over 25 years as a reporter and producer in radio and television, working in news and current affairs, and drama documentaries around the world. I've worked for the BBC, ITN, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Discovery USA - and the Sony Award winning radio station, Fun Kids, allows me to be the voice of Nurse Nanobot, possibly the only Brummie robot in the universe with a medical background.

Increasingly over the years, I began to specialise in helping people with their presentation skills - an area of work that I found fascinating and fulfilling. While I still enjoy working with adults to improve this critical area, for me, nothing compares to the joy of seeing a shy, reticent child, come out of their shell. I see them learning skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

I started coaching my son in presentation skills when he was 5 years old. His self-assurance and class participation improved dramatically. The change in his delivery was so remarkable that other parents asked me how I achieved it. That is how The Confidence Coach was born.

I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

About

ETHOS

While some children love the spotlight and relish being called to the front of the class to read or present a report, others will be absolutely panic-stricken and overwhelmed. Public speaking is not an innate talent: it's a skill that children need now more than ever. This, crucial skill, is often overlooked and under-developed in a child's formative years, yet it can strongly impact on how the child views themselves and how they develop and succeed in school. A self-assured child who can effectively address their classmates or an audience, is likely to be seen in a more positive light by their peers and develop a stronger sense of self. And this acquired poise and increased command of public speaking will empower them in any situation they encounter in life.

A large percentage of the jobs that today's children will work at don't exist yet. But one thing is sure: good communication skills are more important now, than they have ever been.

The shyest, most introverted children can overcome their inhibitions and evolve into confident, credible public speakers. And once they learn the key elements of compelling public speaking, many previously squeamish public speakers learn to love it and actively seek out opportunities to utilise their newfound abilities.

TESTIMONIALS

"As a former head teacher, I knew my very shy grandson could really benefit from some sessions to develop his confidence in meeting new people. Ranu has worked wonders with the simple things, such as developing eye contact when meeting new people. We can also see a difference in the way he gets involved in family discussions and the school has reported a marked improvement in class participation."

Sarah, grandmother of Jan, 10

"I was so impressed by how Ranu managed to be so warm and reassuring and get my daughter Alina to go out of her comfort zone. Since having sessions, Alina is so much more confident with strangers and has participated in her school’s debate club with aplomb. I would thoroughly recommend Ranu as a confidence coach; she is invaluable to helping youngsters develop those all important life skills which can be applied to any situation."

Wojtek, father of Alina, 12
